Well, nothing can be truly known on _inductive_ basis but we surely can know things on _deductive_ basis

I feel like this entire comment section grossly misunderstands what the author means with "story-mode". It's not about actually making anything read like fiction, just the order things are introduced to the reader.

I think the circles are for when you create the arc using the compass. Presumably you already constructed points A and B and joined them into a segment, so there's now a point B to miss.

I don't think that's the point of the text. You can just as easily read it as stating that you should allow yourself to be led by what inspires you or interests you in your field of work, and not to try to produce notable results

We're using Live++ at Mojang. For very large complicated software, we never had any success with VS Hot Reload. Live++ works like a dream and has had noticeable productivity improvements for the devs that've tried it.

What kinds of questions could you possibly ask that doesn't immediately surface this? A person who "cannot write a loop" will not be able to earnestly hold a conversation about programming.

In some sense, I find it reassuring that the practice of logic (and mathematics as well) is deeply rooted in the human condition. No matter what you choose to believe about the metaphysics of math and logic (i.e. an opinion on platonism) we

What an insane justification for making a site have accessibility issues. Hacking should be for the joy of it, not to undo someone else's poor judgement.

That's all fine, but you cannot have nicely behaved stack allocated structs and use the data hiding method outlined in that blog post, which I think is a pretty big caveat

Your claim was that we can only know about reality through inductive reasoning, and this is the part I'm disputing, not that science itself is not inductive. Mathematical reasoning is deductive, and mathematics is part of reality.

But this just isn't the case, for your claim to be true we would have to be constrained to only do _inductive_ reasoning. When we do _deductive_ reasoning, and we feel as though the reasoning has been done correctly, then we know somet

Was that not precisely the authors point? We don't feel queasy representing many things different things incidientally with the same binary sequence, so why feel queasy about the same set theoretical representation? I understood it as
