Author here. I tend to agree. But most people aren't "X" famous where "X" is the field they are trying to create a startup in. In that case they need to find ways to reach out to users and early adopters without relying on their celebrity i

This is so important. We do routine usability tests all the time simply because it's hard for us to see the detail in our own product. A user can stumble across the most subtle things that take two seconds to fix that otherwise we would hav

Agreed. I've been working through their class as well. I've worked through Codecademy, Coursera, Udacity and a variety of other courses. Udacity is challenging, engaging and helps me learn better than anything I've seen yet.

It's all part of the game. If your co-founders are any good at all they should be getting head-hunted. You just have to keep making sure the idea pushes forward as fast as possible. If it stalls or the idea becomes uninteresting then the ea

This is a great post. I loved seeing the numbers behind it too. And the stages.

I agree. I see this in a lot of the places that don't have a strong entrepreneurial community. I see people bemoan about not enough investors or not enough resources. Their solution is then another website or another LinkedIn group or more

That's a pretty narrow minded view of entrepreneurs. There are far more companies started by people who didn't go to Stanford and aren't working off their parents dimes than companies that are.

Agreed. I'm sure it's beautiful, but it looks basically like what I'd expect a GitHub repo to look like. :D

I love this concept, but I'm hoping they can manage to get a community that can keep the level of content high instead of the mostly link bait and spam articles the SEO community is known for. A quick look at the home page for Inbound.org w

+1 It's easy to learn just html. Or to just learn if/then statements or for/loops. Or just hosting a site. Something that could teach how to put the whole package together would be immensely valuable. The closest I've seen is the Rails Tuto

What makes Settlers fun is that there is a good deal of randomness (luck), but you can play the game in such a way that you more often than not luck is on your side. For instance, having access to all five resources leaves you in a better p

I'm interested in hearing about this too. Support can be one of the most time consuming parts of a web app. Maybe because your apps are simple they have less support requirements?

In my experience the actual physical amount of time spent doing something can be pretty ordinary, but the amount of time spent mentally is enormous. When I'm hanging out with friends or my family I'm not 100% there. I'm running over marketi

I can speak volumes for this practice. Our app is inherently designed to be forgotten. Shooting out a weekly or monthly email always brings an uptick in engagement which ultimately means more usage for the app and subsequent plan upgrades.

I spent a large part of my childhood playing HOMM while not many of my other friends ever really played the game. One of the most underrated games out there IMHO.

I can definitely see the value in having a classroom setting learning environment. Sure some people can learn on their own, but there's quite a bit of noise out there in all the tutorials and how-tos. If a $2800 course could filter all the
