Word! I know a lot of places paying a lot less than that lol. Shoot, when I graduated from college a few years ago I knew people taking up jobs at $70k/year. In programming. XD In California, in the Bay Area even! I dunno where people

I'm not a fan of sharing a giant auditorium with the entire company. I am a fan of having a large room with a group of 5-7 people sharing it. That said, noisy open rooms suck.

Sounds like someone that at least knows how to use a terminal and maybe some linux commandline tools like gdb. I think the person we're replying to is looking for someone that wrote a few popular VIM/sublime plugins and uses an er

It works for me, with one annoying caveat. I have a set of regular 1920x1080 monitors on my desk at 100% scaling. My laptop has a 4k screen, and when I plug it in, I have it set to turn off that screen. I have to log out when I plug/un

On the plus side: It's "built to print", we've already done all of the R&D work so it's just a matter of remanufacturing all of the hardware. The software's already tested and ready to go (an will get furth

But it's not out of sight! Perhaps you don't realize how obvious it is! If you're in an SUV, you can easily see the phones on people's laps. If you're in a car, you can still tell because people don't normally

The silly thing is they could combine the fly-by-wire system with the boeing-style control system if they wanted to. There's no reason why not, other than the space in the cockpit I suppose. It's basically just a much bigger joyst

I like splitting the day up on a couple of venues. Like, a few hours at home, followed by some time in the office, and maybe a coffe shop? That makes the day go super fast!

iirc, confluent has their own version of kafka/camus that uses a schema registry where the first few bytes of the kafka messages identify the schema. The wikimedia article sounds like they're just using regular camus and their own

No. I think the ideal use case here is you use JSON over Kafka, and store the data in Avro files. The avro files have the schema at the start. I wonder what they're using to retrieve that data for analysis later on. I do something very
