I feel like you can push your own thing in your own discord… Something about riding the hype train for a fully open and free library you did not create to push your product just feels strange to me.

Datastar always rubbed me the wrong way. The author was constantly pushing it in the HTMX discord, telling anyone who would listen that if they liked HTMX how great Datastar would be for them. Some pretty classy comments from them on reddit

What the…? I guess I’ve been reaching for FastAPI instead of flask these days because I had no idea this happened. Didn’t all the pallets projects have the old timey logos? I wonder what happened.

Agreed. Gnome shell is actually super keyboard driven. But the KDE folks point out the fact that there isn’t a start menu to click and declare it bad UX. It’s just sad.

Doesn’t this just lead to the world where every application has its own specific schema and we lose any ability to operate on files in generic manner? So basically like iOS, and I don’t see many people using iOS as their development environ

You may be correct in theory though in practice the reason to use Async over threads is often because the crate you want to use is async. Reqwest is a good example, it cannot be used without Tokio. Ureq exists and works fine. I've done

Some of these worries make sense, but wouldn’t it be relatively trivial to pass a flag to the interpreter or something similar in order to force all imports to evaluate, as in the current behavior? But to be a bit cheeky if some of these is

Compared to what? I find it telling that the original creators of electron are now writing a new editor with native code because even they can’t stand electron. It’s like they are trying to write a wrong they did to the world.

When you are writing and thinking about code, you are making progress. You are building your mental model and increasing understanding. Compile time is often an excuse to check hacker news while you wait for the artifact to confirm your ass

The only thing I feel like is missing from niri is a scratch layer. There are some apps that just don’t need to be tiled and it’s nice to have access to them immediately no matter “where” you are. Perfect example is matrix client. If the wi

The forced restarts are mind boggling. What is an operating system? At it's core, an OS is a program to run other programs. Yet this Windows program likes to randomly kill all the programs it's supposed to keep running, at night,

Same experience, but from using 11 in a VM. Installing it is eye opening, with all the unskippable Eulas that force you to agree to share your data. I’m convinced it’s a frog in boiling water situation for people still using windows. It’s s

Last time I installed windows 11 in a VM I had to agree to at least 3, possibly more, un-skippable Eulas that required me to agree to share my personal information. Maybe they aren’t selling it outside of MS, but MS is such a giant company

Have you used a modern Microsoft OS? They are somehow worse than they were in the 90s and 00s. I don’t remember having to agree to sell my personal information in the 90s or having advertising baked into the start menu in windows xp.
