using object.format is perfectly ok regarding the rest. using headers might be more pure, but its not the biggest issue. the biggest issue with the rest-wanna-be interfaces is their use of object ids instead of object uris. so that I have t

I don't think there is much insanity here. GoDaddy is the kind of up/cross-sell and I'm sure they are highly profitable.

we've been offering "prototype in a week" for years at http://astrails.com/ Didn't get much demand for it. Its rare a customer will agree to the minimal enough feature-set for it to be viable.

I don't understand all the fuss about personalized ads. really. If Im going to see any ads I prefer them to be more relevant to me, not less. And if I do see something interesting and click I don't mind someone getting paying for it.

Yeah, right. Remove all the whitespace. While you at it also make fonts smaller so that you can cram more data into the same space. Some people actually like interfaces to be aesthetically pleasing. And whitespace is one of those things tha

Short answer - yes. But it's more complicated. You are not supposed to do programmng all day long, but ifbyou don't feel a need to expand beyond what you do at work its one of the following: 1) you work is so great and diversified that you

Rails never WAS "for beginners". That was never the focus and intent. The point of Rails is to make developers productive, not to make newbies feel at home. Yes, you could just ignore all the "magic" and treat it like a black box, and you s

too bad it doesn't help if you are doing any kind of server side css processing. sass, less, or even just combining css into a single file.

there is no much sense indeed to use node right now as a complete backend solution. There are much better ways to push out html and do db queries ;) This being said, there are lots of use cases where node shines. In short - anything related

As far as I know you can use identical name for a different market. The question is how narrow can you define the market. Is it 'anything related to computers and networks', or we can say its 'voip' vs 'online music and documents and ...'.

i find it a little sad that the core people find it appropriate to ignore needs of a framework that brought the language from the obscurity it "enjoyed" for years to the front lines where it is now.

rubygems just needs to start "playing" with bundler. When a gem has an executable in it rubygems creates a stub capable of running actual code from any gem version by using magic parameter: foo 1.2.3 bar baz will run foo from gem version 1.
