a couple of mistakes and comments: * "File>new" can be done by ':enew' * top of the file is 'gg' and not just 'g' * bottom of the file is 'G' and not 'GG' ;) * in addition to ':20<CR>' you can use just '20G' to go to line 20 *

It is important to 'regularly' execute tests in an environment similar to production. But... Having your test suite run as fast as possible is also a big priority in development. even with autotest/guard and spork tests might be quite slow

I think the guy doesn't understand copyright: "There is a general understanding that unless explicitly marked in the contents of the script (the text file that is the Bash program), a Bash script is freely available for use and modification

Very good stuff. I was first exposed to it by the design of Cassandra which works exactly like that. To stop it you just ceash it and it always start with recovery.

I think Apple's Lion OS clearly a sign that iOS and regular OSX are converging. Now think about an iDevice with a fast CPU, lots of RAM and a high bandwidth connector (thunderbolt?) that allows to plug a big monitor and keyboard, and boom,

I think you are taking it way too literally and narrow. I might not have chosen to work at this specific customer project if they wouldn't pay ;), but I would definitely program in my spare time if I had a non programming job. So, fo me, I

It is especially ridiculous when you consider that 18 yo considered old enough to die for them in wars, but not old enough to relax with friends over a beer. Or old enough to have sex, merry and rise kids. Damn, just think of a young family

if your laptop is rooted and keylogged, you are going to loose access to all accounts you actually use anyway, which probably means the most important ones: your email, your bank, your openid. Oh, and you won't find out right away, either.

Email is tier 3?!!! This is insane. There is not much more important then your primary email account! Primarily because you can get access to pretty much anything once you break into email.

I use Linux from 1997 and OSX from 2005. Indeed installing mysql on ubuntu is simpler and faster then on OSX. But installing major packages only happens that often. What happens much more often is having to constantly fiddling with your Lin

BS. RVM is not an overkill. It is simply the right tool for the job in case you are doing ANY ruby related development. If you don't, then it's "sudo gem nstall". It will install it system wide using system provided ruby binaries.

Im one of those people gitignoring .rvmrc. And the reason is that it interferes with our automated deployment on servers. rvm will require manual approval of .rvmrc before its going to use it. I suppose there should be a way to overcome thi

After 2 years in production you nave no one on the inside that knows the core part of your system? Duh! Start investing time in your core technology. Blaming Erlang for poor R&D management choices is not going to fly here.
