Have you tried installing uBlock Origin on Firefox for Android? Feels like that would outweigh any pain of getting used to the UI, so worth a shot if you haven't tried that yet.

And for those who do actually feel they want to separate their extensions and passwords and such as well, there's a Profiles revamp coming up that's looking really good in Nightly: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5&#x

I'm definitely (and primarily) all for safer infrastructure (and am happy to live in a place where that is a priority and politically feasible). That said, it's not always a trade-off between safety inside and outside the vehicle.

Unfortunately in recent years, and particularly in the US, cars have been getting more dangerous again - especially to those not in the car.

The article was first posted in 2024, which made it feel less so at the time :) Should probably have a "(2024)" appended to the title.

Firefox's v3 implementation still supports the necessary APIs, and there's a public commitment to keep them.

Absolutely. It's looking really good in Nightly though.

Still upcoming (already in Nightly), but I'm very excited about vertical tabs, tab grouping, and a better profile UI. And proper uBlock Origin support is table stakes for me.

To add to that, privacy features that can be offered for free, like tracking protection in Firefox, often are, and thus are available to everyone. Services like Relay, VPN and Monitor Plus, which require upkeep of infrastructure, are paid o

I wonder how many of the enthusiastic participants, if the event hadn't existed yet and would be proposed now, would actually oppose it. Sometimes change is hard.

Yes, as I mention in my footnote, Roman was absolutely legally in the clear. I'm just saying that Alexandr's initial adding of the licence was probably a mistake in the sense that he did not intend to do that (that led to people c

Yeah I mean, of course technically that's not how it's supposed to be done, but if they initially added the code and the licence (the latter by mistake), then I can see how the internal narrative is "here's my code (that

I use both and they're both great, but also not drop-ins for each other. OSMand has more features, but is way more confusing and quite a bit slower. So I have OrganicMaps cover my basic navigation needs, but if e.g. I want to access

Sounds like there was just some miscommunication, and as far as I see, the "added logs" were to detect CDN abuse, so nothing shady so far. Still, would be great to see contributors aligned :)

So am I understanding correctly that there was a private repo that had original code, and in that private repo, someone added the MIT licence? Which didn't make the code open source, because that licence hadn't actually been given

Who gets to decide that? I feel like the point could be made that its ban limits the spread of the idea that some people emit disproportionately more CO2 than the average person.
