Going by the video, I see the diagrams have lines, but unfortunately no labels. Do lines always mean "dependency"? E.g. file dependency, dependency on a database or service, etc.

This looks more like data visualization, not system architecture visualization. Ilograph is worth a look if you want the latter.

Copyright notice says 2011, so this project almost certainly isn't active. And yes, there are much better diagrams-as-code tools anyway.

Very telling that the first two pictures are of the camera lenses. Is that where most of the $999 price tag is going?

> That should be concerning to anyone working on projects that use APIs Well, free APIs anyway. If you are paying for API access, you hopefully have a contract which gives you power.

As noted below, the right tool for that is a sequence diagram [0]. These can be static images and read at one's own pace. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequence_diagram

If you replace the moving green boxes with arrows, you get the same information (specifically, flow direction). And if the goal is to show the order/steps, then the right tool for the job is a sequence diagram [0]. Again, the animation

Congrats on the launch. Looks very clean. I think the core concept is flawed, though. "Animated diagrams" are great for generating engagement on social media, but in practice an animated line doesn't tell you anything an arro

Honestly, I think you are using free (and old) diagramming tools, and you are getting why you pay for. There are plenty of tools designed specifically for documenting large systems, but they cost money.

Or, the valuable content has decamped to the apps, because the web cannot be effectively monitized anymore.

The Apps have colonized they internet partly because ad blockers don't work on them. That's a negative outcome, for one.

Almost all of his complaints stem from using generic drag-and-drop diagramming tools. A modern take on system diagramming, like Ilograph[0], solves most of these issues (IMBO). [0] https://www.ilograph.com

You need to use diagramming tools that are meant for complex systems. Almost all of the complaints in this article are caused be using generic drag-and-drop diagramming tools.

Thanks, but what does this animated graph tell us? Why are there two colors of dots? Why are there dots at all? Dots that follow a line don't reveal anything the line doesn't already say.

Re-reading it, he did limit his rule to not using HTML for _connectors_. I can't refute that; that sounds like a bad idea for anything that isn't a toy POC (which this submission certainly is). I do think a mix of HTML (for boxes)
