I'm not planning to buy a house until after I'm married. Also, houses here tend to all be over $1M, good ones well over $1.5M. The average sold house price last month in Palo Alto was $2.76M with an average ~1900k sqft: https:&#x

Prepping for algorithms is somewhat mandatory if you've never encountered those types of questions before, as you'll most likely fail without some familiarity/practice. However once you're able to do well enough on them,

The data points are incredibly non-misleading. Most of the companies reported are public, and the compensation is already cold hard cash or publicly tradable RSUs (usually without even a 1-year cliff).

I'm an L5 that joined a FAANG last year, and earn 440k/yr. If I counted stock inflation, it would be 500k/yr. Most people don't count stock inflation into their total compensation.

Nope. These seem pretty spot on for new hire compensation. Most people don't incorporate stock inflation when reporting their total compensation. I'm an L5 that joined one of those companies last year, and earn 440k/yr. If I

Public RSUs are easy enough to turn into cash. The cash/stock breakdowns are on the site. Typical L5 who earns 400k might be 225k cash/175k stock.

I would say they're pretty accurate, maybe a ~5% skew toward higher compensation because of self-reporting bias.

Manager since when? Maybe 6+ years ago it could've been half. I'm L5 and I earn 400k+ (I joined last year), the compensation on levels.fyi also lines up accurately to my company's compensation data group (in which individuals

Just join a FAANG company that has a branch office in Europe. They'll pay a bit less, but a senior engineer should still be able to get 250k+/yr.

I'm a senior engineer at FAANG, work 40hrs/wk, and get paid $400k+/yr. The cost of living is higher, but it's well under the increase in pay for being in the area. My current living situation is actually pretty cheap; I

Ouch. Being an senior engineer at a FAANG would give you 800k in RSUs over 4 years (initial grant + refreshers), a staff engineer position 1.5M... considering almost 8 years of work, that's probably at least 1.5-3M in RSUs (without con

$1M is nowhere near FU money, that's a joke to accumulate/spend here in the bay area. I'd consider $5M closer to FU money.

It's 100k per year not over 4 years... I can assure you that these numbers are not bunk and are very real. A lot of my friends have been offered 1.2M in RSUs for L6 positions. I myself am an L5 and I got a 600k RSU grant - so I get 150

Small business does not equate to a startup. It's not nearly as huge of a gamble starting a small business as most aren't pursing new ideas in unproven markets, and trying to find product market fit/scale rapidly.

Maybe startups would be more desirable alternatives if they gave RSUs instead of stock options, or at the very least have an exercise period of 7+ years instead of 3 months, or not be forced to pay the cash equivalent of taxes just for exer

The minimum wage in Romania is also €446/mo or $496/mo, so ~$2.86/hr. Compare that to the federal min wage of $7.25 or California's $12/hr.
