At least in Germany, they all have. Also you could almost time it, since commercials start ~5mins before the full hour (where the news comes on). I've often toyed with the same idea of the parent poster

You can have different volumes for different passwords. Plausible deniability.

Again, this is where plausible deniability setups kick in. Of course the EU can go full police state, but at that point I hope the regular citizens pushes back. The goal is to raise the cost of enforcement.

Luckily now we not only have crypto-communication, but also currency :)

This will in turn make encrypted devices, plausible deniability setups and steganography more pervasive. The US lost the crypto wars, EU lost the piracy wars once, and they will lose again.

I expect companies to migrate to saner regulatory environments and geofilter the EU. VPN/Tor will help circumvent this.

I'm excited about this. This will boost VPN, Tor and other technologies that protect users from inane regulations. https://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/classes/6.805/articles/cryp...

You have to enter a pin before unlocking the trezor, and you can add a passphrase to your wallet. Both make the attack much more expensive for an attacker who just stumbled on the device.

Has Gates figured out how to short it? The last time he wanted to "bet against" Bitcoin he was ignorant of the derivatives market on CME.

You need somebody that knows the regulations and developers that are capable of auditing the whole system. That's added fixed costs, which is an advantage for incumbents.

The GDPR ensures that only Facebook will be able to comply, and prospective competitors shouldn't even bother. The regulation counts 58 000 words.
