YMMV, but I found quite a lot of shitty movies to be rated surprisingly high on RT. Based on my experience, high rating doesn't mean a movie will be good, although low rating does translate to a pretty good chance it's poor, so th

You can't really evolve a wheel in the sense that a half-evolved foot is useful already, whereas a half-evolved wheel: not really. Therefore obtaining a functional wheel has to be done in one jump, which is contrary to how the gradual

I think brute force (coupled with powerful heuristic of course) is the optimal way for increasing strength of chess play in engines. It has long ago surpassed even the best humans anyway. What is interesting to me - and really underexplored

Java 8 won't be supported on Android, at least not on most devices, for a while still, so I can't see why the release of Java 9 would be a game-changer all of a sudden

The Kotlin plugin (for Android Studio; starting from 3.0 presumably built-in) allows for converting Java code to Kotlin automatically. Obviously the outcome is not necessarily idiomatic Kotlin, just the most straightforward equivalent - but

Also within the job itself, overengineering (a typical vice of intermediate level coders) is the root of, well, much evil. A programmer myself, I couldn't help but thinking about mammoth frameworks and architecture fads as I read the a

I used Vivaldi for a couple of months. Plenty of goodness, and one major showstopper: it's slow. It's so very sluggish and slow. Something as trivial as tearing a tab off a window would take several seconds. Switching between tabs

They seem to favour unit tests over integration tests, which is achieved by abstracting the layout logic away from Activities and into view models that can be unit tested with no fuss.

When it comes to Android, Java by itself is the least of problems. It's the SDK and framework that are tricky, ridden with technical debt and often far from developer-friendly.
