There is a lot of professional development during PhD too. Especially if you're at a well funded institution with enough prestige to have a lot of international collaboration. The resources are typically a lot more experimental and RnD

+1 for this is a PhD level thing. The science and technology is not at the sort of commodity level where you do a masters and you're done really. A good approach is to just get in the face of a lot of lab people working on new tech

Raku isnt falling from public favor, it hasn't made it yet. It's an entirely different language to Perl 5. Like the difference between C and C# or Java.

Your understanding before wasn't quite right. The ionizing in ionizing radiation is the key, its about knocking off an electron to form an ion. So that's something like a UV photon exciting an electron and breaking a covalent chem

The difference is mainly of scale, would you describe calcium signalling and calcium ionic standing waves using quantum mechanics? You could. But its not relevant or helpful to do so as that bulk effect doesn't act as a quantum system

That article has nothing to do with the OP. There are plenty of effects which are quantum systems in molecular biology, photo chemistry especially and the quantum tunnelling of electrons and ions. That is not what is being discussed here at

Yup the biology bit is hocus pocus. If you read the single author arxiv paper referenced, its thinking is quite confused on the biology. The main thing discussed is hydrogen bonding between nucleotide pairs which doesn't fit the magi

Not entirely convinced performance stops it being taken seriously, it just prevents some use cases. Unless you've tried a really recent version of Rakudo and found it monstrously slow at something? If you have, report it!
