I think you would be a dick to send that joke to /u/ekjp, and it's a bit crass for a dinner party, but it's well within bounds on a pseudonymous forum called "Jokes". Now, I think one could make the argument

What's wrong with the jokes? Ellen is a grownup and a public figure. Jokes come with the territory. No one is seriously comparing her to Hitler.

It's very much like GamerGate. There is an attempt to deflect an overwhelming amount of legitimate criticism by pointing to a few trolls and characterizing all of it as "racist and misogynist".

Yeah, and now that I think about it, culture/techlevel is going to cause huge variance in GINI anyway.

This is just amazingly tone-deaf on Reddit's part. I don't even read IAMA regularly and I knew Victoria was well-liked. What is Ellen Pao paying attention to if not their highest-profile subreddit? Did she have no transitional pla

I don't think the questions were overly disrespectful. It's an Ask Me Anything, not an Ask Me Respectful Things. And it's not the first time someone has called him a shakedown artist or mentioned his out-of-wedlock child.

Interesting question. Would this mean that more genetically homogeneous countries like Japan and Iceland would have lower GINI coefficients?

The problems are 1) You can't tell whether someone is "just asking questions" in good faith or not. 2) Dismissing a horde of people all raising the same problems with one's beliefs as "sealions" is a tempting s

Yes, it's not well-formulated, unless the intent was to pretend the cases against 5 and 6 are as clear as the case against 1.

Yes! Someone should make a fan edit of the Baroque Cycle, or just a List of Best Bits. The cannon duel and most of the L'Emmerdeur parts would go in there.

The initial scandal was that Nathan Grayson had been friends with the relatively unknown developer of Depression Quest for a long time, to the point of getting thanked in the credits of the game. He then plugged it, here: http://

Yeah - I avoided it for a long time because of its reputation as a paperweight, but it's a great, multilayered, witty book. And it's unencumbered by copyright, so there's little reason not to give it a go.
