I think the data scientist hiring frenzy may soon collapse as large companies run out of patience with their recently formed data science departments that struggle to deliver ROI (for many reasons, often not the fault of the data scientists

It is indeed mean to shame people for their counter-productive lifestyle choices but if it warns off others from going down the same path maybe it’s worth the cost on a societal level.

Fun thought experiment is to think what would happen if you told ____s to replace ____s. What would happen if you took programmers and told them to fill the roles of teachers? What would happen if you took teachers and told them to replace

A lot of jazz, if you were to take an excerpt of the notes being played and listen to them in the cold light of day, is just objectively bad. A bit more sophisticated than, but similar to, over indulgent rock guitar soloing.

I find it very obnoxious how the Netflix app for Apple TV autoplays previews of titles when you’re browsing and doesn’t let you disable that behaviour. As a result I rarely open Netflix except when I already know what I want to watch.

I used to get bad acne as a teenager. I remember thinking it was some kind of cruel joke that I’d look in the mirror on Sunday night and see a fresh spot emerging, just as the others had cleared up, just as the school week was about to be

The snopes page has them admitting in an official statement to making a fake video but, you see, that’s ok because they were intentionally making a fake video, it was an exercise , and they never meant for it to be distributed. Right. Th
