Former EVE player, and member of SA. Mittens is a complete narcissist and all around horrible human being. I've been out of the loop for a long time now, but even from the title of the post I instantly thought "I guess something f

You can be skeptical all you want but given that most of Ontario's power already comes from Nuclear, and Ontario operates the largest nuclear facility in the world by both reactors and output, you are yelling into the wind.

I was wondering about this too. I'm in Canada and we've been raising our rate even more aggressively than the USA. What is stopping Europe?

Being devils advocate, there are other languages and ecosystems significantly more open than .NET. Microsoft has a stranglehold not just on the language, but the runtime, build tools, and even the most popular frameworks to do anything usef

I feel you about that startup time garbage. I did end up working on a GraalVM based Spring Boot app that was super cool as part of our business requirements were taking in user provided Python and Javascript code for execution and executing

Yea this comes to the poor alignment point. I recently left a company where I led a team in building a high quality and very complex product but the job felt super easy. Now at my new gig I'm managing a new team where the product is ga

I hate the old school way of writing Java more than any other language. I love writing in "modern" Java more than any other language. Lombok, RxJava/Reactor where possible, and monads everywhere. It is beautiful and succinct

I'm a huge AMD fan but this is bonkers. Yes, Intel has floundered for a number of years, but at the same time they are a foundry themselves, second only to TSMC (for now), have incredible manufacturing capacity, and seem poised to star

In modern genomics, you are seeing more and more use of BAMs (Binary versions of SAM files which themselves are Sequence Alignment Files) even for unaligned data that FASTQ was normally used for. Not only are they smaller in size, but they

I'd love to know if they floated any of these patents to Google, Apple, etc... and if those companies did the math and decided that litigation against a patent troll would cost less than what Blackberry was asking for.

Not sure how you can agree about MS but have hesitations about Apple. For all its faults, MS is way more open and end-user friendly than Apple. Also, smart phones and portable devices in general are the general compute devices of the curren
