The biggest issues are zoning and NIMBYs, and these are local. Hard to make a national push, or even a statewide push. I could write 5000 words on how that’s going in California right now (better than expected, but slow).

Why is Apple obligated to support iMessage for people who aren’t customers? This seems to be at the root of the discussion, not this silly blue bubble thing. The costs of iMessage are included in the high price of Apple devices. Why should

Because they were already undercharging. During the low rate years, investors said they wanted growth, not profits. Now they want profits. Expect a lot of consolidation and rising prices over time. Unity was a harbinger.
