First thing that comes to mind: Starship has a lot of protection against burning up, so huge chunks of it could survive and cause damage.

FWIW, 3-finger drag works perfectly for me. I've never used anything else. Currently on M1 Air with Sonoma.

Like you two-finger scroll on the touchpad and it behaves exactly like a smartphone.

Yes, you have to consciously lift the finger(s) from the left side and only touch the right side when right clicking. Not hard to get used to, but there's definitely some friction if you're coming from a normal mouse.

It's a surprisingly okay daily driver mouse if you actually don't use the mouse that much, like if you're writing code or staring at code most of the time. I daily drove it for 3 years despite the terrible ergonomics, because

Just the other day I was searching for something on iOS and the results were really suspicious, they mostly didn't match the query or didn't make sense at all. My brain was going on autopilot and it took me a few tries to realize

Please note that you aren't getting downvoted because people disagree with your disagreement, but because your comment adds nothing to the discussion. (currently "I completely disagree.")

Yes, that’s correct, but the headwind stops being so headwind-y near the ground, so your plane needs to go a bit faster to compensate for the loss of headwind-ness in the seconds before touchdown.

I keep my important files on my DIY NAS -- a cheap NUC with two external HDDs (Btrfs in RAID1). Every night at 1am a cron job takes a restic snapshot to a Backblaze bucket. I feel like bang for buck my solution isn't half bad. The NUC

I’ve had an ultra cheap Eaton 5E (900 VA) for a few weeks. Because I still don’t entirely trust it, I’ve tried cutting the power to it several times (like 10x maybe) and it’s been fine every single time (it talks to a Debian box with NUT).

I think you just got unlucky. It's a mixed bag with "waterproof" phones, but [flagship] smartwatches should be pretty solid. My GF and I both had Galaxy Active watches, now we have Apple watches, we go swimming and kayaking w

Yeah, if you told me I had 5 seconds to pop up the keyboard on my Apple Watch, I would probably lose. Maybe I'd try to go through my GF's button to her profile and then to messages? Where else can I get a text input really fast?

I don't think that reliability is the issue. Hass is very reliable, it's just (IMO) a bitch to configure. There's a lot of clicking and fiddling in the not-sure-if-mobile-or-desktop web interface, the menus aren't that w

Nowadays your phone, computer, fridge and even your car get software updates that can break things. Having to keep track of one more device probably won't ruin anyone's life that much more. Also, Home Assistant updates rarely brea

I find that hard to believe. Thousands of people? 90 %? I wish I could get so much help from a LLM. I’m a heavy GPT-4 and Copilot user, it explains new stuff to me, spits out configs and command line arguments, sometimes code snippets, but

Oh, I’m sure it isn’t. I just wanted to emphasize that I’m in Europe (central) and what they sell as bananas here may not be the exact same thing as somewhere where you can eat them fresh.

That's an interesting detail about the bananas, I've always found artificial "banana" flavourings too strong, too "artificial" and I vastly prefer the taste of a slightly green banana (as you can buy it in Euro
