Why do you think CSS-in-JS has only caught on in the React community?

It's a symptom of the SPA architecture. Since you give up a lot of basic functionality by not using multiple pages, that same functionality has to be reinvented.

Here's a couple of use cases: You maintain a library and you support more than just the latest version of Node. You switch to test compatibility. You work on a project with a team. Some members of the team work on other projects with o

There have been a number of cases of former NHL players with CTE. I'm not sure it's as many as in the NFL, but it has less focus so possibly underreported.

There are a few, but by in large, no. You have to have a company where OSS is part of the business model to some degree. For most companies, the proposition for open source is that you get something of value for (almost) free. If you start

Great article. I think what we're really seeing here is the end of web development as a craft. It's turning into assembly line and "inefficiencies" like having people specialize in different things is no longer (financia

The rise of Flutter makes a lot of sense when you think about how mobile has evolved over the last 5 years. The days of Instapaper and the like where you could build a really good app and sell it, are long since past. Nowadays I'm not

I got a lot of downvotes and it's because I didn't direct my comment well enough, this is who I was referring to as the superwealthy: > people who are a block away from every place they need to go. I don't know of any city

High risk low reward describes a lot of lower-level street gangs, no? I would suspect they are the largest sellers of murder-for-hire.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm someone who loves the golden age of jazz but never got into modern jazz. I'd be happy to have my mind changed. After a small sampling I think Snarky Puppy is definitely not for me. It's a l

Right, that's an antifeature that destroys performance for no real gain (packages are the only instance where the file name is abstracted from the importer).

I disagree. Knowing what format a module is written in is no different than knowing it's API. You can't blindly start using a module without knowing stuff about it and how it's intended to be used

I don't see how it could happen that often and go unreported. The only way would be if the killings happened with the country finding out about it.

I didn't say it doesn't happen. I said it doesn't happen all of the time. The incident you linked to was a big story, I remember it. If these things happened all of the time they wouldn't be reported in national papers.

Note that it's long been possible to use any language with Lambda through a shim. In the early days that was using Node.js to call out to your binary. That meant you had an extra bit of startup cost (Node + your binary). Once Go was su
