My idea: Every family (couple+one or more kids) that does not own a home is able to live in a public house that has a robotized vertical farming aquaponic system designed to feed a family of five, what they do with any surplus is up to them

I hear the media say this all around the world all the time, and they of course always mean themselves... But is it true? There are many and many independent reporters with their blogs and twitters (do we call that media?), independent news

I don't think this is how people usually think of positive people. This is resignation, not positivity. IMHO a positive person in this situation would believe in their chance of surviving and fight back.

Yeah, it's very moving to see a human-made machine do such wonders. Fills me with awe, appreciation, and hope.

I can't understand this position. A positive person often does positive things without a reason or need, especially for their loved ones, as that brings more happiness.

Definitely let the students get the "big boy" certs, not student-catered ones; they're too easy, the students can do a lot more, it would be a waste.

It's an open source tool that you can self host, having none of the problems, or add to your application and when you're doing that, all of what you said already applies. But yeah, I get why you prefer native programs - I do as we

IMHO it's a lot harder to deny a concrete, targeted entitlement than a super-wide payment for everyone without a reason/need that might just get reduced to nothing over time.

This discussion revolves around the USA. Do you expect the USA to solve the problems I listed within the next decade? I don't, definitely not if Trump wins again. > It's perfectly possible to build in security mechanisms. Sure

What I am saying is that expecting UBI to transfer power to the employees while these problems still exist might not go too well. I don't expect UBI to be perfect from the get go, and I don't expect these other problems to be so

This is a weird comment to make when people are simultaneously discussing how the rich have the state do what they need - corruption, lobbying, regulatory capture, tax breaks, interest-free loans... It shifts the power from employers to the

I am aware of that but I am not sure what should I do with it. The state of Czechia, nor the former Kingdom of Bohemia, nor its Austrian emperors did that. It's not just the Soviet Union that went wrong, and it went wrong since it'

Then I don't understand your position. Could you please explain to me in what ways is anti-communism misguided? Have you ever lived in a communist state, or at least a post-communist one? It's not normal to go on HN propagating fa

.d.ts files are mostly compilation output, only if the original source is JavaScript you write the definitions by hand. TypeScript developers normally work with types inside their ordinary .ts (JS+types) module file, not in a separate sourc

I also have a computer with NVidia gpu (which turns fractional scaling into an unresolvable problem on Gnome currently, that's why I tried Kubuntu in the first place) and 28" 4K display running Kubuntu and use the display with the

What if they are one of the people that lost? Not every person gets a representative, only the bigger (but potentially small) portion of voters gets.

I tried Kubuntu with KDE (on Macbook 2015) and am amazed at how good and polished it is, even compared to later versions of macOS. Fractional scaling works perfectly, even on NVidia cards (my desktop). Even the Windows issues with HiDPI are
