It looks like they may have recently solved the issue with async rendering on the server (4 days ago): https://github.com/rackt/react-router/wiki/Announcements#wha... One of the exciting things about React, a

Hi Dan, I think ReactJS.Net is a great project. I've got to say, it was very reassuring to see that it was there when I began exploring React. This is definitely the approach that I will use when not building an SPA. The criticism abou

I've experimented with it. I think it's a great solution if you really want to stay with a uniform stack (as much as is possible, anyway). What I came to realize, though, is that the Razor views were just scaffolding. You would ne

Speaking from personal experience, I'm reluctantly moving from my favorite stack (C# MVC) to Node.js in order to be able to build an isomorphic SPA in the most straightforward way. Node is the stack of choice for JS and the obvious cho

(Thanks for the correction.) Perhaps I was reacting to the first paragraph of the post. He says the 'incorrect story' is that IBM designed it and Rob and Ken just implemented it. The correct version is that Ken designed it. I thin

I wasn't aware of closure trees before, thanks. The presentation that you link to by Bill Karwin, along with a few other resources are in the comments by coleifer and chdir.

I think Bob unfairly discounts the work that IBM did here. It's clear that there was synchronicity between the wants of the Plan 9 team and what IBM was doing. The need was clearly 'in the air' back then. Upon reading this, i

A good book on the subject is Joe Celko's Trees and Hierarchies in SQL for Smarties. http://www.amazon.com/Hierarchies-Smarties-Edition-Kaufmann-... He spends a chapter on each of the models outlined in this post: adja

This is a pretty elegant solution for delegated authority, too. If you have client-side code as well as server-side code that both access an API, JWTs can give you a uniform way of handling authorization at the API level. Client side access

It's too early to tell. They only just started issuing retail licenses this past month. It's slow going because each store has to meet stringent standards. But they're opening one by one. The taxes are applied at a rate of 25

The Lego approach has been the holy grail of software development at least back into the 80's with OOP. Yet it still requires programmers who know about data structures, algorithms, etc. to write software. Even if they're just cob

Product Manager or Program Manager, depending on the org, probably makes the most sense. There is a lot of overlap with marketing. I see people go into that role from the development side from time to time--people who don't really enjo

Sorry to disagree with Gruber, but I don't think a set of devices made by one company is the future. It's always been Apple's play, in part because of the consistency of experience that it affords them, but it also let's

I agree with this approach. This cost does not need to be born by the municipalities alone. Contracting companies will line up to build and maintain the infrastructure. The initial build out could be paid for by bonds which would be repaid

Like any disruptive technology, I think it can be hard to predict. Right now, it's mostly a novelty for us. In some environments, I could see it being much more useful. It's still somewhat limited in terms of print quality, but it
