Good points, all of them. Especially the last one is just a painful reality of the process. I think it's somewhat similar to the scientific method in that regard. Often your hypothesis is just false, but that does not make the attempt

To me this is one of the differences between making a wheel for learning or a wheel for innovation, as I mention in the blog. The latter can truly be reinvention, while the former is indeed often more like simply making your own wheel.

Yes, it has to be balanced appropriately. I didn't emphasize this a lot in the blog post, but this is really important in a work setting, compared to when working on personal projects. I still think wheel-reinvention has its place in p

Looks pretty good, I'm looking forward to trying it out. The UI a bit more cluttered than I would like, but it's nice to see something like this more fleshed out than what I posted.

This looks great, I'm really looking forward to giving it a try. I've been using Trello to accomplish the same thing for a while, but it hasn't been ideal. Thank you for posting that.

I'll see what I can do to improve this. At the moment you can click "Lock all" under the "Mind Map" menu to lock all the nodes in place.

Thanks. I use it as I would a normal mind map, to organize ideas and sometimes visualize trees of data. I just find the text-based approach to creating mind maps a lot faster and simpler than using the various other online tools, even thoug

A few months ago one of my favorite tools http://www.text2mindmap.com went down and since there doesn't seem to be any plans to bring it back up I created my own version of the site. It's basically just a quick mashup

An Acer Chromebook 13. It's really easy to run Linux on it, which is all iup personally need. It's light, cheap and has great battery life.
