for the first one, you don't need rebase afaik: git branch name-of-the-correct-branch git reset --hard HEAD~ git checkout name-of-the-correct-branch

You should check the background of the author, I can guarantee you that he has more then enough experience... In most cases the necessity for factories and providers in IOC-containers are an indicator that your software is badly architected
