More importantly, the power usage typically is/can be a few orders of magnitude less, especially when you can control the power state of the IC and wake it up with an external interrupt. I have a weather monitoring station that works

Why does it need to be high quality? Mom and dad aren't exactly pro photographers and they still enjoy taking pictures. Just look at the design of the thing, it's clearly more for play than work.

The encoding for the surrogate pairs is a spec (not a standard) called CESU-8[1]. The modified UTF-8 in the ClassFiles is really just CESU-8 with an exception for U+0000. 1: http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr26/

Eh, there's been far worse and their justification for it kinda-almost makes sense. They were trying to avoid 00 in the strings at all costs. It's simple enough to encode and decode: https://github.com/TkTech/

In the unlikely chance that you can talk about future plans, is the idea to commercialize by offering "enterprise" support on top of Rethink, or an extended-feature closed source version, etc...? At some point people need bread an

Nope. Many people have theorized that this is to ensure that Tesla cars and other automated vehicles (land, sea, air or space) have access to the internet at all times, anywhere.

Reading "refined" source code for projects will likely teach you significantly more about programming if that's what you wanted to learn. These videos are mostly to see someone else's process rather than the code itself.

This doesn't matter at all to Google's cars. They are designed to ignore the speedlimit in favour of the real speed of traffic around it[1], as it has been proven to be far safer than slowing down. It's currently caped at 16k

You are correct, but the station also has two main engines on Zvezda that are rarely used. It's easier and cheaper to keep these main engines ready for emergencies and let the docked craft perform altitude boosts. As to the parent comm

Within our solar system (which is itty-bitty), there is really no theoretical limit to what we can send or receive. Bandwith is pretty high on modern satellites and probes and our only really limiting factor is latency, which doesn't m

The USB on the Pi has some issues. A lot of devices need to use an external, powered USB hub because the board can't supply enough. Your ethernet is also going through the USB hub.
