I go to some of these meetups for OPAG (Ottawa Python Authors Group) and have had a blast. One night a table of us were there chatting away until 2AM. Fantastic hosts and a fantastic space in an easy-to-reach area right downtown.

You can also add multiple urls to your remotes. When you push, it'll go to all of them. I do this at home with a tiny server on a mini-atx box and github. Set it and forget it. There's no reason you can't do the same thing with a small box

At least the USDA provides database dumps ( http://www.ars.usda.gov/SP2UserFiles/Place/12354500/Data/SR2... ). Unfortunately, it comes with a 128 page guide on how to actually parse it into something useful.

Pyglet is very slow for releases, it's almost always better to build it right out of hg (pip install hg+ https://pyglet.googlecode.com/hg/ ). It's had Cocoa support for something like a year, at least.
