Nice to see someone else using Mnemosyne. I was going to make an Android client for it as part of the Google Summer of Code, but Google rejected Mnemosyne's application. I guess it doesn't have the same weight as OpenOffice or Chrome or wha

Writing a 2D platformer this year was one of my more enlightening programming experiences. It absolutely made me draw the line between "Things that are theoretically correct (and impossible to implement)" and "Things that can be implemented

From what I've seen, the intersection between "Material taught as part of a CS degree" and "Material needed to be a competent coder" is alarmingly small. The people who turn out to be good programmers are the ones who are working on their o

I agree, but I am disappointed that the keyboard on my IBM Thinkpad T40 is significantly better than the one on my Lenovo T60. The T60's just seems flimsier, somehow.

I'm 18, and have worn a wristwatch since I proved to my parents that I could tell time with an analog clock at the age of 4. I will admit that about 2% of my school wears one though.

No, Wikipedia admin Nihiltres intentionally created the "torsoraphy" page (at 3:03 today, no less) and made it redirect to "Tarsorrhaphy". It's not the search algorithm being clever. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Torsoraphy&

The relevant analogy to phones would be if the Windows Phone team took all of Android's source code--and somehow decompiled the proprietary bits--changed the branding, and distributed it as their product. There's a huge difference between d

Chrome didn't ask me anything, but I will say that the font is hideous (on my computer, at least) for headings and when highlighted.

I'd nominate reddit as a fifth, more recently-made one. I actually don't think it's ugly--but I'd argue that it's as spartan as Google (considering its different functions), which did make the list.

Just use a public library. Most have free wifi, almost complete quiet, large tables with quality chairs, and--best of all--nobody cares if you're there for 8 hours without giving up a penny.

I see where you M/D/Y people are coming from, but can you at least agree that "June 28, 2010" -> "[Month 6] 28, 2010" -> "6/28/2010" is at least founded in some kind of logic?
