As I said you need the correct flag set.. MSVC use _CONTAINER_DEBUG_LEVEL=1 and it can be used in release. They have had this feature since 2010 or so, though the flag name has changed.

With MSVC you can use _CONTAINER_DEBUG_LEVEL=1 to get a fast bounds check that can be used in release builds. Or just use it in development to catch errors.

std::vector [] has had bounds checking since forever if you set the correct compiler flag. Since they aren't using it this is a choice, presumably they prefer the speed gain.

Good luck with that..also shouldn't the target be C++ to Rust? Is there really that much pure C still being written?

At least with MSVC if you use SIMD heavily the debug build will be 100x slower easily. I believe it creates debugable SIMD by storing each operation to memory, though I'm not entirely sure how they managed such a massive slowdown even

Simplest solution and the one I use is all SIMD related buffers use a custom allocator(actually everything uses it) and it always rounds the allocation size up to the SIMD width. Masked loads kinda suck, they are a tiny bit slower and you n

I don't get saying mask operations are more important than width? Mask operations can be trivially emulated with vblend, it is one extra instruction.. Width can't be emulated, you just are stuck running half speed. This take keeps

It isn't as wide on ARM so the gains will be smaller(most ARM is only 128 bit wide neon)

Geohash just appears to be obfuscated zorder/morton, and being able to truncate the bits etc is just normal SFC stuff.

I use hilbert curves and I can assure you they are very useful for performance.. Hilbert encoding does take longer than Z order, but I have a SIMD optimized routine for it so it isn't that bad. Your comment about compilers doesn't

Without looking anything up, I did not find that phrase confusing .. "From ancient grudge break to new mutiny" My immediate read is that the two houses have an ancient grudge, and there will be a change in status involving mutiny

Stacking works fine today.. you don't need a acyclic graph, just run the solver for enough iterations and it will converge, multiple iterations is to be expected given the number of contacts and friction constraints involved. If you tr

Depends if that 2 minutes is full build or incremental..if incremental that is unacceptable, should be more like 2 seconds. Compiling to see if you have syntax errors? What do you not have an editor?

Those things are nice but in the end if I'm trying to get the most work done in the shortest amount of time, having wider registers help more than that stuff.
