Cell phones general do not work in rural areas unless you are very lucky or go climb the highest peak that happens to be in direct line of sight of a tower.

Rural areas don't have anywhere near that many options. DSL, fiber? Those do not exist if you are actually rural.

You could filter then out much more effectively by letting them sit in a room by themself to write the code, that way you aren't missing out on good candidates who can't function when under abnormal stress(that has nothing in comm

The poll doesn't ask about support for Israel, it asks about approval for the war in Gaza, a very different question. Easy to disprove of a war that has gone on for this long, while still favoring Israel.

I have that and still prefer class, easier to type(not just shorter, but easier keys) and less to read. Only use typename in the rare case where it is required

Could improve it by using enum MonsterName :u8, moving it down near the other byte sized item, and specifying the exact type of the bitfield(u8). Then it would be 16 bytes.

You live in a bubble then, most people I know don't care very much about this issue. We have bigger issues to worry about, like our buffoon President & spiraling climate change. The pro Palestine side has also given themself a pret

Currently there isn't much they can do, but they handed the election to a corrupt buffoon. Inaction the border & immigration, letting the woke crowd run rampant with their nonsense(not talking about it doesn't make it go awa

For me, books like Huck Fin were how I learned English, I don't think we even had grammar lessons(some weird teaching style that was popular in CA at the time). I personally did not find the slang & creative language used in such b

Dunno about this, the example C++ code is so obviously bad that I had no desire to watch the video. Creating strong types for currency seems like common sense, and isn't hard to do. Even the Rust code shouldn't be using basic type

I tried using LibreOffice on Windows, and it was super slow and kept crashing. It is also so ugly & annoying to use that it must be intentional. I really don't understand how this market is dominated by an abusive platform(MS Offic

I write a lot of SIMD and I don't really agree with this.. Flaw1:fixed width I prefer fixed width as it makes the code simpler to write, size is known as compile time so we know the size of our structures. Swizzle algorithms are also

std::enable_if is not the correct comparison, I think you mean "if constexpr" enable_if is mostly deprecated, and was used for overloading not branching, you can use concepts now instead

Lisp is so powerful, but without static types you can't even do basic stuff like overloading, and have to invent a way to even check the type(for custom types) so you can branch on type.

Yeah I had a pretty high opinion of Lua when I first used it, then I came back to code I'd written years earlier, and the lack of types just made it a nightmare. It really could use a fully statically typed layer that compiles down to

I have my doubts with Jai, the fact that Blow & co seems to have major misunderstandings with regards to RAII doesn't lend much confidence. Also a 19,000 line C++ program(this is tiny) does not take 45 minutes unless something is s

Slang is nice improvement on HLSL, but wish it was more like C++ and not C#(easier to share code).

I'd guess a major reason is that Java is statically typed, and Lua/Fennel are dynamic; making it easier to reuse any existing libraries.

It in no way replaces triangles, and very few will use it for good reason. Why? In many cases modern renders use triangles only a few pixels in size, you won't see C1 discontinuity at that size. All the outer edges of quad still have C

I don't know where they got the idea you don't dither in srgb, the point of dithering is to map it to the nearest bit pattern with a random adjustment so that it could go either way(aside from artistic choice), you should dither i

a+=1 will not produce any surprising results, signed integer overflow is well defined on all platforms that matter. And we all know about the looping behavior, it isn't surprising. The only surprising part would be if the compiler deci

They are useful sure, and I print a stacktrace on any type of error/exception, but often breaking into the debugger is even more useful and faster as you can see local variables, program state, and what other threads happen to be doing

The accumulator is a vector type, with 64 bit sum you can only fit 4 into a 256 bit register. After the loop it will do a horizontal add across the vector register to produce the final scalar result.
