In very narrow usage X11 can use it but most software doesn't work. The work for a real HDR in Wayland is just beginning.

Users don't understand costs, especially for certain countries. The biggest bounty I got was like $300 for a solid week of work. Most were a few bucks. It was a waste of everyone's time and money, except BountySource.

They deleted like 90% of content on their site and required ID verification for all uploads. There is no evidence they knowingly do anything illegal.

It's just anti-user. Use the AV1 codec, some hardware supports it.

No being free doesn't help them. Linux is distro dependent but generally it's not distributed by any large US company. Community projects play loose with using patented software. Apple surely licenses it.

There is no evidence this is a widespread problem though.

Seeing 8 codebases in a decade is a bad sign. I've significantfully contributed to maybe 30, contributed to at least 100 others, and read large chunks of 100s on top.

Hardware doesn't change. The Linux kernel and related userspace move fast. Proprietary kernel drivers are painful for users and developers alike. Nvidia has held back the entire desktop and been a massive PITA for laptops.

They all have similar not great latency. My understanding is just some people just can't see or care less.

SUSE only supports GNOME. Any other DE is community maintained and only in OpenSUSE.

No. HFCS is only a big problem because it's cheap, thus added in large quantities everywhere.

A big codebase is full of the same patterns of every other codebase. If you've been doing it for a decade you'll recognize them.

SUSE doesn't even use KDE, they use GNOME... Sounds unlikely.

There is a difference from free and no enforcing a fare. I think the number of homeless in the US does complicate it though

It's going to be supported upstream Linux/Mesa but nobody has tested/reported on it publicly. I'd expect growing pains but good support.

Laptops are made of commodity parts these days. Very few have anything that Linux doesn't support.

You pay the first month, but after that it just gets denied. Every subscription I've seen handles it. Don't use it for a service that charges after usage.

Many see FB as an immoral company, so it starts with the question why did you work for such a company. IME a simple "I disagreed with X but I did Y" satisfies most. (No idea what % of people in hiring positions believe that.)

XFCE does have modularity in many ways. The reality is it has a tenth of the complexity of Plasma.

This is just a deeply unhelpful way to think. Firstly it punishes those in the worst situations. Those in countries with abusive political systems, those who have no legal representation, etc. I don't even believe the idea is right in

You keep sidestepping the benefits. You want website.com you get website.com. It's impossible to know the infrastructure of that website and simply isn't something HTTPS will fix. That's more of a social/legal problem of

Better than average but the majority of laptops use the same hardware and drivers. A bad wifi chip here or an odd fingerprint reader there are the majority of issues.

I'll respond to the lame joke. 1 and 2 are dead, 5 doesn't exist, and it supports 3 or 4.
