Honestly, I don't mind or care about people drinking at work. I probably wouldn't mostly because beer makes me very sleepy. But it's really a matter of phrasing. "We typically have a couple of beers together at the end of the day" sounds

Maybe I'm just getting old and uptight but I find things like "unlimited amount of beer" to be a real turn-off. It has a feel of immaturity. "Yeah, let's get drunk! Woohoo!" Really? It's not the first job ad where I see something along thes

Thanks a lot for your answer! The links are very useful, though sadly they point towards custom ToS and privacy policy. I expected that, but it's an extra step to do for projects that might not always be worth it. That's why the MIT license

Ask HN: any boilerplate ToS philosophically equivalent to the MIT license?

I don't use bookmarks and like my UI as uncluttered as possible, thus I don't have the bookmark bar displayed. I typically go to websites by typing their URL and Chrome completes it. It works for most sites I visit: for example, I can type

I think this is a very important point which would invalidate a lot of the critics about affiliate links, in my opinion. I was under the impression from years ago that the Amazon cookie was actually pretty long-lived and, for that reason, I

That's interesting because it sounds like not everybody has the same stuff in the bar, but yet, the order doesn't match what people are actually using the most, which they know. (in my case, I use Reader a lot, but it's under "more")

And Reader is pushed further and further away… It was in the black bar initially, between Photos and Web, but for whatever reason, was pushed down the "more" menu to be replaced by "Sites", which I'm pretty sure nobody has ever ever used. F

You should then put a user-agent test so that you start the download only on Windows computers. I have no use for a .exe either.

You can give a range, but never tell anyone what you make right now. Instinctively, I have a hard time giving out a range too. Mostly because I would tend to give a range centered around what I'm making, which I feel beats the purpose of

Space-bar-scrolling is one thing but "links with anchors at the bottom of the page" is a problem (that I've encountered often enough) regardless. (edit: I'm actually having that problem just right now in the Xcode documentation… which is pr

Thanks for the link. The timeline as described in this post seems to explain, in my opinion , the somewhat odd name that "Codecademy" is. Since the start I've found it hard to pronounce and easy to misspell. It's not a big stretch to think

For the lazy, the "From around the web" section looks like relevant articles on other sites and is styled exactly like the links that CNN recommends, but it's actually paid content. A popup under "What's this" gives the following info: "Pai

Have you thought about trying the yellow background as well based on your comment about how some people think it's the best result? I have to admit I'm split on the ad. On one hand, I feel that it's deceptive, because I expect ads to look l

There are two different things: one is modifying the clipboard from JavaScript. IE used to be able to do that, I don't know if it's still the case. I'd be very surprised if Chrome allowed that… The second thing is modifying the selection

At least in 2009, you had to ask Facebook to be whitelisted to be able to see your (the developer's) Flash loaded directly in the timeline. I'm surprised they changed that… They had a form where you would give your domain name, what you wer
