IMO the critical factor will be whether any Chromium forks keep support for Manifest V2 alive. If yes, it will be a viable alternative to Firefox (or FF forks), but I haven't seen indication that a project will pick up the slack. A bro

Thanks for bringing this point up. When I watched the movie as a child I didn't understand the nuance behind No-Face, but this video was a very enjoyable dive into the character & background: https://youtu.be/EavUeC

Depends! If you know the schema, you already have this information. If you don't know the schema, the most common approach is to store the type and value in an object, e.g. { "_t": "float64", &

How does your approach handle keys with spaces? How does it handle multiline strings, escapes and so on? With your approach, I have to either not use these features, do a lot of manual testing to figure out the corner cases of your implemen

This thread is a great example - there are comments holding the positions you're asking for. Luckily they generally don't seem to be doing so uncritically, but that's what we want from this forum, right? Why are those comment

It's rare that I come across a discussion on here that doesn't have multiple comment chains presenting the perspectives you're talking about.

It's interesting how religiously "correlation is not causation" is repeated here - except when it's about personal anecdotes.

Another facet of the same fallacy: "A difficult choice is one that helps some while hurting others, but someone wise has to make them. Therefore, if I make a choice that helps some while hurting others, I must be wise." I see this

No, that's the story the AfD tells everyone. In reality it's because the AfD isn't compatible with our constitution and democracy.

I disagree, because it's the opposite: the purpose of a system only aligns with what we want the purpose to be if the system works perfectly. Whatever we consider the purpose to be doesn't matter for the effect the system has on t

But there's no reason to wait with streamlining until people need it. If you know you want to require IDs, streamline the process in the years before.

Is there any documented process in place to ensure that the staffer has to take the explanation into account? Government workers have been relentlessly antagonized by Trump and his party. How can we be sure these situations are handled corr

Transparency is indeed always good! Which is why this completely intransparent and obviously partisan "audit", which flaunts all rules of actual auditing, is bad.
