Being able to fold out a basically normal laptop into a dual-monitor setup when you want? I don't see anything impractical about that. Dave2D was really enthusiastic, fwiw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6Cr73w8CJE

Probably 90-95% of Macs sold come with a monitor, and they're all high-DPI now. Apple doesn't really care about optimizing for some giant 1080p monitor. An iMac is pretty cheap.

The super-generous interpretation here is that Substack is trying to hew as closely to free speech absolutism as possible, but I keep thinking about the interview where Nilay Patel asks simple direct questions about content moderation and S

Godot 4 has proper multi-window support. > schema validator > opening a TCP connection You should be using C# for stuff like that. Ignore the Godot API, just use .NET 8. But I agree that any game engine is a poor fit for general appli

Software isn't a finite problem that gets solved. We make what we can, given our resources. Commercial software used to be painstakingly written in assembly, with little more than simple text editors. An average Python programmer today

You can do this with nearly any game engine. Ignore whichever pieces you want and use the lower-level APIs. I used to use Unity with a third-party 2D framework that bypassed all its game object stuff.

The industry needs Unity, for the sake of competition and diversity of options. It needs a good, well-maintained Unity. Maybe they'll be able to refocus, maybe their new licensing scheme is good enough. If not, I really hope they get a
