I've had this issue a lot, usually secondhand (search for a solution to X, find a bunch of forum posts that scold about X being bad and wrong even though it is absolutely the correct approach in my scenario). But realistically, any kin

Nobody actually wants to read LLM-generated soup. That's just a waste of everyone's time. If you're making a highly interactive, dynamic game, you don't even need detailed language for NPC interaction. You may as well us

While there have been plenty of programming games, the idea of a bot-only MMO would be really interesting. Far more interesting than actually playing the typical post-WoW MMORPG. Like, Runescape was already distilled into a surprisingly goo

I've flown long distance economy a lot, and business class a few times, and I just wish airlines would serve sandwiches instead of elaborate, mediocre meals. It would probably be better, and it would definitely be easier to eat in a cr

Even poems are "easy". They're typically very short, there's a million ways to write one, so if you roll the LLM dice enough times you'll probably find something that's plausibly interesting. What I've yet

People really seem to enjoy the evil/powerful AGI scenario though. It's definitely a fun one. I would recommend reading "Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect", having a nice time with that, then coming back to the real world

It would be really difficult to find an experienced C++ developer these days who isn't comfortable with the basics of CMake, and that's all the Pico SDK demands from you. If you're simply a hobbyist grudgingly writing C/

Kotlin, Scala, and Go are garbage collected. Zig is a language that barely even has name recognition outside a certain niche that loves it. Swift vs Rust is a real question. Currently Rust is almost always the answer outside of the Apple ec

Developer grievances about Apple have been simmering for years, and even longtime Apple fans aren't happy about what's been going on lately. This is not a smart path to follow. They need enthusiastic small developers to help bui

That's the confusing part. With the DMA policy at least there's a strategy, even if it's a strategy that will ultimately be rejected as non-compliant. Picking these petty fights or whining about getting fined is not helpful,

I really liked the first Moist von Lipwig book. The second one is ok. The third (Raising Steam) is just...bad. It's not funny, it's not anything. You can absolutely tell that Pratchett was losing his abilities.

My favorite little coincidence is that ending a sentence in "ne" turns it into a question in both Japanese and colloquial German, with exactly the same sense ("isn't it?").

It only recently struck me, watching Ben Eater's new videos, that BASIC can almost be thought of as high-level assembly. That's why it was so popular in the early days of personal computing (look at all the articles here), that&#x

There was an incredibly stubborn post-Cold War "end of history" complacency in Europe that really should have ended after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. Instead it lasted until the full invasion in 2022. What's been starkl

Nothing's disappearing except for the official hosting of Citra. Citra already fully supported every notable 3DS game, I think, and recent development work has mostly come from outside contributors rather than Tropic Haze.
