Why is it such a problem, though? It is statistically unlikely that a woman is developer, so people react accordingly. Does it really hurt so much to say "no, I'm a developer"?

I find it ironic if women fight against sexual attraction, effectively depriving themselves of one of their powers. The same pattern can be seen in lots of feminist positions, like deriding of housewives and thereby eroding the privilege of

So pretty people would find it harder to find employment in advertising. Wouldn't that be severe discrimination?

Argh, tough problem indeed. Short of a tattoo on the forehead, maybe Google Glasses or a geeky cap might work?

Since in general few women are developers, I rather doubt the hiring of pr women has any bearing on the situation. If it is really so frustrating, maybe dressing accordingly would alleviate the pain - don't know, carry a Linux book, a T- Sh

You've shown that the organizers thought that sexism was a factor, which isn't the same thing. But you are right, since we fundamentally disagree about the rules of logic, further discussion is pointless. (example: I said truth doesn't foll

The number of people believing something is not a good indicator for it being true oe not. Example: billions of people have contradictory religious beliefs.

I didn't say you fabricated it, just that it doesn't follow from the story. That there was something to offset also doesn't imply sexism was in the mix of things to offset.

I'm male and not really OK with working 40 hours a week (with a 2 year old at home). I find it annoying that people automatically assume I'm OK with it. Not sure what to think, I mean why the question is offensive. Maybe it is illegal to as

Whast extra hurdles did you have to jump over? Are you sure your wages are lower? Those differences are not very obvious for office jobs, in fact the other day I linked to astudy showing women in tech earn more than men ( till age 30 anyway

There is nothing in that experiment supporting that theory, though. So why push it anyway? How does people flocking to free education prove anything?

Or maybe it's just thast they paid for their education. Getting something for free could attract a lot of people. I also would like an update on the results in 5 years.

Is there any indication that non-Google services are likely to have a longer expected lifetime than Google services? I don't think so... If services going extinct bothers you, the only sane alternative seems to be non-cloud services based o

Of course there is a gap (if you count the right way anyway), the question is, what does it mean? I argue that jumping to the conclusion that women are being discriminated against is wrong and aslso counterproductive. As for /r/mensrights I

Apart from what I said in my other reply, I suppose it is possible that a lot of women don't reflect their options and just choose the traditional paths society expects them to. If the 77% discussion makes more women reflect and choose prof

Your comparison is odd. If you are poor, you are poor. So a poor woman, poor black male and a poor white male would be equally poor. Seems to me more interesting is the risk of being poor. I think you'll find that there are a lot more poor

Something sounding like /r/mensrights does not make it right or wrong. And I argue against misinterpreting a statistic here, not particular feminists. I wonder why you are so emotionally invested in the belief that women are being oppressed

I see that you believe that, but you provide no arguments to support that. I only learned about /r/mensrights yesterday, checked it out but didn't like their attitudes at all. I think it is important to counter misguided feminism, though.

The 77 cents on the dollar thing is just a symptom of the same thing, blaming men for all and everything and portraying women as victims (to excert special compensation for women). If you research the paygap issue a little bit, you'll find

You assume that taking offense is always reasonable, or whoever feels offended is always right. Also, playing the emotion card (it hurts my feelings/sensibilities) is a way to excert power and control.
