I think the debate in the social and political sphere has already turned to this broader implication, but obviously for the legal challenge, X will solely be debating whether it should apply globally or not.

I know this is contentious, but one factor here that lines up with the timeline you've presented is: vaccines. Children are given far more of them than adults. People moving from developing countries to developed countries won't r

Wait so Reddit wasn't even their idea? Paul just handed them an idea and a bunch of money to go with it?

Why did this get flagged? It contains interesting quotes from ex-googlers and covers a relevant topic. Are we really going to try and bury this blatant attempt to push a particular agenda using AI?

Assuming you're acting in good faith, I agree that your original comment was extremely generic, and the point of this person's reply was simply to say "this comment could have been uttered at any point in history". Count

I was a member of this forum from fairly early on in its creation (I won't say who), and was sad when the community eventually disbanded. It was the very last true "internet forum" I participated in, and often look back on it

Except that you can't be sure this bad flight plan doesn't contain information that will lead to a collision. The system needs to maintain the integrity of all plans it sees. If it can't process one, and there's the ri

I sometimes wish I could have a stab at projects like this "hackathon style" and see how much value can be delivered when you don't need to worry about lining the pockets of contractors and consultancies.

Except that SF police also seem incapable of that. In fact, they seem incapable of doing very much at all.

Meh? I don't really see this as anything special, or anything close to being an "alien mind". An alien mind would have been trained on its own environment with perhaps wildly different inputs. This is nothing more than a brok

Can't wait for Apple to start requiring you buy a new iBattery for the low low cost of $599.99 once a year when the old one is rejected by the phone for being unable to hold sufficient charge.

The irony is that Airbnb and Uber were created to try and make use of spare capacity i.e. Spare rooms, floor space, extra passenger spots in people's cars. Instead, it created an economy where people increased the amount of housing the

Mullvad was the darling of the Vpn world, up until they removed support for Port forwarding. Would be really curious to see if their subscriber numbers have tanked since then.

My impression of Jobs from reading his bios was that he was a top tier bullshit artist. The type of kid that would get another kid to do their homework, but would present it to the class so convincingly that nobody would know better. This w

You really missed the whole point of their post didn't you? If we are going to allow a BSL-4 lab to exist and introduce the risk of possible leaks or other problems, we need to get something in return. That "something" needs

They're not implying anything. They're nearly making the observation that the supposed reason this lab existed was to research dangeours viruses like covid, and yet the lab itself did nothing to help during the pandemic.

I do care about that! But YouTube, the one profiting from those creators, should be the one paying creators more, from their already very high profits. Not me.

They already make a profit from the service. I'm asking why I should provide them more than what they're already making. I believe their profit already gives them as much as they deserve for the service they render to society.

Why? Does Google need to be making a higher profit than it already does? Does YouTube deserve the extra money? For what reason should we pay?

Sad that porn use has become so widespread. People don't like to think about it, but I think the mass exposure to porn of the high speed internet generation will have serious negative effects.
