Really awesome story. From the guy's page, it looks like he's a super hacker - learning to program at nine, embedding a Scheme interpreter in the Linux kernel. Between this and jacquesm's recent "it's easy" post, I wonder, do you have to be

Holy shit. As a local, I can't wait to see more info on this. I don't think I could beat out all those Silicon Valley hotshots that apply to YC, but for something local, I think I can get in. This being in Baltimore is such a surprise - I'd

I wonder if making trivial tasks look monumental really makes people more interested in programming.

I hope someone figures out how to set off the bricking process on other people's systems. That way, there'll be a huge controversy which will put this procuedure in question. Nintendo can make some great games, but their business decisions

So you came back to argue with what you basically sum up as a troll? How a story makes you feel is probably the most important part of it. And I agree with Max: I feel disconnected from the person who says they were hacking awesome crap bac

I don't think this applies for me, even though he says "this is most people". I mean, here's what he's describing: 1. Recieve task 2. Create intricate, well-thought-out plan for task 3. Plan goes awry after banging your head on the wall for

And you're someone who knows about computers. Try to explain to someone who doesn't know too much why they should buy a $400 OS... Good luck!

One aspect was especially confusing last time I used it: I had a voucher to redeem on United, so I selected United on the dropdown for which airline to use. Lo and behold, all the flights were from other airlines. Talk about easy to use!

What if the reason people are 'smart' is because of the way their brain has organized itself over the years in response to learning so much? Then it isn't that dumb people are dumb, just behind.

All we're saying is that CSS was haphazardly thrown together, wasn't well thought out, and makes hard that which should be easy. In short, it sucks.

To me, the culture is what makes FB/Google. And I don't mean the internal culture - I mean people having those companies be a part of actual culture. They've developed to the point where they're everyday entities; regular people identify

I dunno, man, that'd sure be nice if school taught you how to think, how to question. Maybe your friends do that. But schooling in general seems to be "them's the facts, get used to it". Industrial-strength indoctrination.

I know it sounds deliciously ironic, but I already know the system is fucked up. But the article didn't really draw me in or give me any clues about why what it has to say about the subject is relevant to me. I mean, we all know that dict

Reddit is also terrible at business. Half the ads are 'thank you for not using Adblock'. The founders even left it after their contract ended, so I don't think anyone is really looking at the big picture there. Still, your point is right. Y

I'd love to know the information that's being presented here, but it's presented in such a lousy and verbose way that I just don't feel like reading it. Why is it so common for journalism to be faux novelism?
