Thousands of groups applied for S13. Only 255 groups were selected for interviews. Only 53 companies ended up getting funded. My advice: Stop worrying about perfecting your application or trying to game it. Stop worrying about trying to get

Competition means there's likely to be an actual market for what you're making. Entering a market vs. creating a new one.

I am working on a similar tool in Node, called bon[1]. I'm glad to see so much interest in Docker lately, it's a very exciting technology. [1] https://github.com/strapper/bon

I seem to recall them raising money on Wefunder. In fact, a number of S13 companies appear to be[1]. Unfortunately, it looks like most of the companies are having trouble raising even small sums of money. I wonder if some investors might ta

Honestly, if I were going to try to solve one problem with keyboards it would be to make cleaning them easier. This seems like a good keyboard and I may consider picking one up if both of my Das Keyboards fail me, but I'm not rushing t

We've been a customer for a few months now and use it to power the runtime for our App-Development-In-The-Cloud[1] startup. Very cool, and Chris et al are very nice and helpful guys! [1] http://www.cloupp.com

You make very good points but I got the impression that Shopping Express may work a little differently. It seems like Google might actually call the store and have the store employees prepare the order, or at least confirm that some items a

I've used it a couple of times but it still has some flaws. For instance, you can only buy things that are listed on the website. I decided to give it a shot to get a new PS3 game delivered. The item would be located no more than 3 fee

It's an interesting design problem for sure. Do they make it a USB dongle and have an HDMI cable going out? Or an HDMI dongle with a USB cable going out?

There are a number of options. For instance, each build could run on a freshly provisioned virtual machine (like Travis CI), or using a carefully crafted sandbox-exec setup.

I wonder how much Sam Lantinga is responsible for the existence. As far as I know he joined Blizzard after coming off of porting games to Linux at Loki Software. Interestingly, he's now at Valve.

There would definitely be some pains going from huge monitors to a small tablet. The bigger side of our plan was that it wouldn't just be possible to develop from a tablet, but really, from anywhere. Develop iPhone apps on your Windows

From personal experience, it seems like YC may no longer have an interest in funding RFS #5. Our entire interview was spent trying to explain why someone would possibly want to code on a handheld. Full disclosure: Our demo and Altair BASIC

I was under the impression that the main concern is theft of HTML/CSS/JS sources without payment. Anything that allows access to those files would still be vulnerable. The idea was to have the site rendered real-time in the cloud

Think of something like VNC over WebRTC or Flash. Just rendered frames, no raw access to the source.

The Visual Studio IDE and Expression Blend are (or at least were) WPF... I guess there's a pretty good chance it was C# rather than VB.NET. Not sure if there is anything else though.

One of the cooler projects I've worked on involved modeling city road networks using splines. We'd convert them to Bezier curves and split them along rectangular boundaries using deCasteljau's algorithm for LOD. Lots of fun!
