One of the smartest guys of all time, but this was unnecessary. Plus, Windows is _generally_ a modified microkernel (some violations, but mostly right) - and it runs > a billion machines.

yes, i can see no downside to this. i would never expect that there would be an irrational, overblown response that causes lots of people to be arrested and made examples of.

I agree - I think a rule of thumb is that you will underestimate the actual work required for anything outside of your core experience by a factor of two, and that's if you have a GREAT person working on it.

Interesting point - but how is it different than CloudFlare?

Companies don't have to reveal if it's less than $50M, so, unfortunately, the only answer you'll absolutely get is "< that $50M" :/

Wouldn't really categorize it as a flash competitor - it's an HTML5 builder (which is very needed, but different).

My only problem with STS is the signal to noise ratio suffers - there's a lot of service providers and other folks on there that drown out the opportunity to make connections. It's a good start, but there are a ton more resources. If you re

Dave deserves a ton of credit for all he's doing in the community. I'll offer up my own time as well - if you have ANY questions, i'm happy to help - follow me at @aronchick or email me at aronchick (at) hark.com. I think getting the patron

Annoying is the wrong word - had HN had the feature to edit/update I would :) I do think the person who takes the title of CEO is risking more, and than deserves credit. They have their name in the public, and reputation on the line more th

I, too, think you're taking it down the slippery slope. I think the person who should be CEO should (ideally) be the a) the person who brings the most to the table (in terms of that business) and b) the person who can inspire the team (and

I'm more in the "thought provoking and agree" camp. I'm not sure that of the potential downsides to Dan's strategy, a significant impact to the success of the company would be among them. The idea _does_ get too much value here - I'd defini

I see big win here - pricing for this stuff is so fluid, we need a great Hipmunk/Kayak/etc interface that lets anyone filter quickly.

I'm surprised to see a suggestion of CouchDB - with the deep integration of BigTable with App Engine, I think it'd be unnecessarily hard to use anything else.

Sorry, totally disagree. Tools matter. A LOT. Being able to build my LOB app in VB and launch on a company's phones = huge win for IT Departments. The world isn't all about consumers and flash. Whether or not they can win that market is an

I'm with the crew that thinks it's pretty short sighted to just dismiss this out of hand. Last time I checked, Xbox launched into a market place where people change their consoles a lot less frequently, with a single ENORMOUS player, and th
