Hey thanks, I was being a bit flippant, but I was not aware of that. That's very interesting!

Fair points, but it doesn't answer the question asked - what are his "inalienable rights" and where should that line drawn? GPs examples were good - banks, taxis, etc. Should his local cafe be allowed to refuse service?

I assume the new standard will be the top comment is a nitter.net link similar to how the top link on paywalled news sites is an archive.is link.

Even better are the ones where you pick your country and the 'state' dropdown is still US states and 'Other', and you're prompted for a 'zip code'. What does American mail have to do with a zip anyway?

The GP clearly stated it's "generally" a bad idea. This implies that sometimes it is a good idea. Equity based payment will attract a different risk profiled group than salary will.

I've yet to come across a company that pays the highest output individuals the most. That's not how capitalism works.

In my area, the AS is usually provided 'free' with your membership.

I love how it starts with "watch this video first". Thanks though Jeff, I don't really like videos, but your stuff is always high quality and fun.

Speak to the local RIR[1]. They have varying requirements, but broadly you generally need to justify your use case, multi-home (for your own AS) and pay a yearly membership fee. After that, you need to speak to your ISP about either adverti

Agreed. Something I like about Orion (and other browsers will do it with a plugin). Aside from vertical tabs showing the full title (very useful), you can close the whole tab tree once done with the subject. I've gone from 600+ tabs op

Apologies, I should have read the link. Most users conflate iCloud Photos with iCloud backup - the former being only a sync.

Hardly "all subdomains". Unless it's doing an AXFR of my zone file (unlikely), this isn't possible. It's a scraper/guesser, using cert transparency, common names, etc. Cute toy, but false claims.

We use them to make swords. Cut some skinny PVC to the rough shape of a sword (they have four way interconnectors, so you can do the blade, guards and handle), glue them together, cover with a pool noodle and duct tape. Great swords, can&#x

They definitely overdramatised the wording, but their point is valid - the 'normalisation by a thousand cuts' is a real phenomenom, and a bad one.

Airlines check government issued ID against a central database when you fly. This is standard and expected in air travel, and is not in social media.

In my experience with close to 500GB of files - mostly smaller image files - transferred over lightning using ifuse, 2-4MB/s is closer on average.

I care. I'm not a videographer, I don't use iCloud and I transfer via cable all the time. USB-C is a major selling point for me, primarily for data transfer speeds.

I did it last week and do it regularly. My (full) 512GB iPhone takes 40+ hours to transfer over USB, I presume to to lots of small files.
