I think I followed. One aspect of a programming language is how easy it is to build a useful IDE for with code prediction, navigation, refactoring, etc. Java is relatively easy, Lua is very hard. Rust is somewhere in the middle, with macros

What makes a phone a smart phone? I don't think many would argue that the Motorola flip phone I had in the early 2000s was a smart phone, but it had games, a (primitive) web browser, and of course could text and make calls. When the iP

Not a full and completely separate implementation though. Just wrappers to mask differences in compositor extensions that haven't been stabilized yet. If there are none the implementation is simply impossible.

I played around with this a little with a friend thus afternoon. A couple impressions: 1. The voice chat / positional audio works very well. I was impressed. 2. The world is too vast for the current user base. It felt like a ghost town

GalliumOS works for the x86 chromebooks. For a handful of arm chromebooks archlinuxarm works reasonably well. I bought a Samsung Chromebook Plus (1st gen) before covid when I was taking the train every day. I find it to be a great carry wit

Fair, though neovim uses LuaJIT which is maintaining Lua 5.1 compatibility indefinitely; with their own set of extensions[1]. Through the use of metatables you can improve the undeclared global situation[2], through I admit it's kludgy

The same is true of ffmepg. The api documentation even links to the source of the bins so you can read the example code. To pick on ffplay, I think it most clearly illustrates this - with the bare minimum rendering context to get video on t

Cast iron isn't much more expensive and much easier to maintain long term. Articles like this are vastly over complicating it to feed into some sort of cast iron mythos. Unlike t-fall you won't damage your cast iron with a fork or

As a maintainer of an open source project, we moved to matrix when freenode imploded and so we could bridge our users (mostly on discord) into the same room with our developers many of whom refused to use discord on principle.

It appears to include the currently standardized extensions. GC is a proposal in phase 2, and I'm not even aware or a proposal for DOM access yet but it would require several other proposals to go through first.
