Cast iron isn't much more expensive and much easier to maintain long term. Articles like this are vastly over complicating it to feed into some sort of cast iron mythos. Unlike t-fall you won't damage your cast iron with a fork or metal spatula, and you won't accidentally get it too hot and burn the coating. Short of letting it sit around in water and rust they're virtually indestructible in the kitchen.
