Start by learning SI units. Then social skills. Then realism. There is no realistic way for a "25%" software engineer to net 1M. Many don't even net a tenth of that.

It's one of my all time favourite technical books, and easily my favourite Java book. If you're dealing with any kind of concurrency -- especially in Java -- then it's pretty much a must-read. Its explanation of the Java Memo

The problem with major Credit Card companies is that they're all American and that the US of A is incredibly moralistic. For the sake of convenience, I'm considering PayPal to be part of the same club of moralistic knobs. It'

I understand why toilets aren't free. Free public toilets in urban areas are almost invariably dens of filth and crime. Unfortunately, pay toilets are invariably filthy themselves. It boggles the mind that rich "western" coun

Oh wow, thanks for pointing that out. I thought I was having a migraine aura when I noticed vaguely flickering christmas lights out of the corner of my eye.

I think that's an area that would benefit less from investigating and more from acting. But for some reason people think a room that's 20cm wider is "better" than one with sound-proofed walls.

How does their display name affect that relationship? You can meet people in meatspace, and even know their name, without FB knowing their name.

This is my first time hearing the term 'ultrasound tracking'. This is another good reason to avoid apps which require access to your microphone for no apparent reason.

My biggest personal goal for 2017: read more. I only read 20 non-technical books in 2016, which is probably the lowest number since I learnt how to read. I've set up a "want to read"-list on goodreads and I'm rearranging

I was thinking the same thing. The trackpoint is the only kind of pointer I enjoy using. Although at one point I had a keyboard with a built-in trackball, that wasn't too bad either.

Does not match my experiences. Many of my fellow Belgians are trilingual. If anything, I noticed a lot less intolerance living abroad in a monolingual country than I did in Belgium. Your mileage may vary.
