Why isn't anyone protesting those TOS? Them having the apparently unqualified right to cancel the card you paid for is unacceptable.

Bosses tend to create (or encourage) this kind of behaviour. This is either an infrastructure or a management issue. If there aren't enough toilets, your infra sucks. If you need to discuss work while taking a dump, management sucks.

Why would anyone put up with that sort of madness? If my employer can't even let me shit in peace, I don't want to work for them. It's not like programming jobs are scarce...

I mount my pass dir with encfs. Mount when I need access to passwords, and no need to remember to close it before I shut down (or if the machine randomly crashes). I can store the encfs encrypted tree on cloud storage (spideroak in my case)

Focal dystonia is pretty weird. Different body parts are mapped to different areas of the brain, but "overtraining" certain movements (like this guitarist) can cause that area to spill over into adjacent areas. Resulting in involu

That's not my experience in the UK. In my experience there are very, very few cyclists in the UK. To the point that anything they do wrong is pretty much irrelevant. Disclaimer: I've spent most of my life living in areas where bic

The scope matters. You can get a machine to run reasonably well without relying on closed source graphics drivers. If your GPU firmware is evil in some way, it's on your GPU and you can be pretty confident it won't compromise the

I had the same reaction reading their cyclist rant. Even the video made no sense. It show a couple of cyclists committing minor trafic infractions, but apparently those are "criminally irresponsible" acts. It's their blog, so

And then there's the part where people lose or damage fingers or retinas. Accidents happen. Your crypto may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you suffer injury, but it's a real problem in any population large enough.

Funny how things don't seem to work that way. What with police officers arresting people who film them. Somehow privacy has become a privege.

Blame all those cheeky buggers who built machines powered by steam engines or water turbines. They basically built their machines to run on whatever was available. Got a waterwheel doing 1000RPM and you need a big saw attached to it? Your s

I pay roughly a 50% income tax, and in spite of that municipal garbage collection is, well, garbage. Regular waste is easy enough: weekly collection is OK. Larger items which can be incinerated are OK-ish: need to make an appointment two we
