He's been interested in forecasting since a long time before there was any money in it, and still hyped Metacalculus (free research project) and Manifold (play money) because he is interested in the subject. If it smells like an ad it

In theory but in this specific example you can make a lot more money on the stock market instead if it's that doable. In general you should judge different prediction markets differently and read the fulfilment criteria though - some a

Yes, in the very long term, but in the medium term where the listed capacities even matter we are not close to that. Really, the cost per gb of vram on flagships hasnt went down since 1080ti and thats not accouting for the recent increases

I looked for one and it's impossible to find, let alone at a reasonable price + it does suffer from being harder to train/use less common models and workflows (e.g. arbitrary comfyui ones). Spark at least doesnt have that drawback

I really want a 128gb+ machine but it's brutal to be at only 256 GB/s for $4k (especially with the drawbacks of both ARM and AMD). I fear that by the time the RTX Spark comes out it'd have to be $6k, and by the time a 128gb o

Have you honestly not noticed how dried up the tech job market is? This take is bizzare to me.

Measuring aircraft production per weight doesnt sound like that bad of a proxy. If I hear that Boeing produced 300 kilotons worth of aircrafts more this year, I'd be right to suspect they've ramped up production.

We can create many things without being able to define them. From embryos to fire.

Yeah I like the idea, but I'd rather just not use most of these plugins, superpowers included. Code seems to include the best tricks in itself anyway at a fast pace.

Do you mean that Gemini is most token-efficent at watching videos? Is that the case for e.g. just giving it a video in the browser? I admit, I dont give LLMs videos as I just assume it'll burn too many tokens.

This is great, I assumed we were getting close (and not quite there), so it's great to see the progress. The path from here to building a single-celled organism out of nonlive materials looks very straight.

Well my PC is built on my own and I change parts every year or two. My laptop is a Thinkpad from last year and Im pretty sure I can easily open it to replace something just like my last one.

Did you think 5 years into the invention of electricity the world already was vastly different? The internet? Would you have written them off because random people didn't know much about them at that point - which isnt even true as cha

I've barely changed my mind on it. It was obviously premature at the time, but the right attitude because it's hard to tell which model is too dangerous in advance. If anything, I wish this rigor had evolved with the next releases

>they’ll sometimes catch harmless requests, though they trigger, on average, in less than 5% of sessions. Isn't (less than) 5% of sessions a lot? I was expecting a sub1% guarantee there, so this surprised me already.

Nope, it does some automatically, but you cant even check the context size let alone compact. The agent proposes to start a new chat when you think it might be high, and that's it.

Compared to gemini-cli which I was using the last few weeks it also doesn't: 1. Doesn't tell you your weekly qutoa (at least on Pro plan/all the time) 2. Your agent cant access the quota to not run some tasks at low quota 3.

It depends heavily on what type of data though. As far as I understand if you have no PII or anything close to it you are mostly safe - especially if it's customer data but aggregated.

In 2019 I suggested[0] you might reach AGI if you train on computer usage - mouse movement, keypresses, what's on the screen etc. - and it sounds like Meta are kind of trying some form of it. 0. https://svilentodorov.xyz
