20 years ago online poker was extremely soft, and you could make a profit easily with a little bit of skill. At any rate, what you describe is usually not considered cheating - most sites (with some exceptions now, but likely none back then

Neat! I'll test it tomorrow. My only 'complaint' from reading the docs is that it only tests one NN model (which is the same for all types of data), rather than at least a few of the top architectures.

SHAP is a recent de-facto standard way to get feature importance out of any model, whether you care about how much each column in your dataset contributes to a given decision or say which pixels in an image mattered the most. https:/&

>categorical variables have a 1000+ potential values that need 1-hot encoding You typically do not need to 1-hot encode categorical variables as the common implementations like LightGBM and Catboost have native efficient ways to handle t

This is such an odd dogmatic generalization. There's plenty of business cases where e.g. SHAP is enough for explainability and having a higher accuracy is important.

>if there is a sample threshold where it's worth exploring deep learning Not especially, but there are tasks where DL models seem to occasionally outperform by a little. If you really want to milk extra accuracy it can be worth it t

I've been using flux/redshift for a decade but I'm honestly not sure if I've noticed a difference in sleep quality on the occasional days when I've had it turned off.

Js libs don't need to care for things like system packages and drivers as much as Python ML does.

While on the software side we are close, the amount of compute required to train a model to produce longer, high quality, sensible, and non-surrealistic videos - especially with a plot - is simply too much for the time being.

Interstellar is pretty much nonsense even given the premise. Even if you are talking about time travel you can easily make something more plasuible than that. Also Interstellar had information passing from the future to the past which isn&#

I'd be glad to get less light pollution in Berlin (where I live) but I don't see that many signs anyway, so any benefits would be tiny. I also kind of like them at night (given that they are not ubiquitous), it makes a city feel m

Cultural appropriation is an odd way to frame it for anything but inducing outrage. It's definitely a bit questionable and tricking people (and making e.g. scams easier) but there's also obvious benefits beyond tricking people - e

I'm getting a 403 on the Colab (while successfully logging in and providing a huggingface token). Is it already disabled? Do you have to pay huggingface to download the model? It's unclear from the Colab and post where the issue i

If you copy paste the quote you pasted here into Google instead you'll find it's a meme from Arrested Development.

That's a poor example. We have plenty of models that vastly outperform OpenWorm on whatever task you choose. Their failure simply suggests AGI is unlikely to come from direct emulation of existing intelligence.

This myth is complete nonsense, I'm not sure how people still share it. The author provides no evidence and simply made some sensationalists estimates based on heart rate and blood pressure during games.

Editorializing titles has become completely standard and I rarely see them fixed anymore despite the comments. Of course others also post editorialized titles when they see it happening daily on the front page.
