When it comes to programming, I would say AI has about doubled my productivity so far. Yes, I spend time on writing prompts. Like "Never do this. Never do that. Always do this. Make sure to check that.". To tell the AI my coding p

I find the podcast style audio it produces super annoying. Is there an easy way to simply have text read to me unaltered?

How would the email end up in the ad system? Isn't it just a library the app developer includes and that runs in the background? Does it interact with the user and ask for their email? And fingerprinting? Even if the fingerprint is uni

When an app gathers information on someone - for example via the microphone - how does it assign the data to a person? Say the person says "I will buy a new car next week". Now what? How will the ad agency bombard the person with

That would result in a string passed to get() and raise an error as get() operates on a template, not on a string.

I guess that is a misunderstanding on your side, about how templates work. Less hate and more love might help to avoid this type of hotheaded misconception ;-) Why do you think changing a letter would cause a vulnerability? Which letter do

This looks like an attempt at content marketing, rather than a valid blog post. A shocking title which brought this to the HN frontpage, but then it does not hold. The characters all look legit in the position they are used.

If it is a switch in the UI, then that is just trusting the site. If you trust companies with what they say they do, then why not enter your query in any search engine that does not require a login? Afaik none of them say that they will t

How do you know they do that? And how do you know Kagi does not? Whatever the engines secretly do, why would I use one where on top of that I have to actively tag every one of my searches with my email?

That looks super complicated. And hard to tell if the cryptography works as intended. Why would I go through all that hassle if I can just type my query directly in other search engines?

Ok, but the proxy could insert JS code into the html page which does what uBlock Origin does, couldn't it? This would give the same flexibility without the need for a browser plugin.

For same-domain ads you could use content-inspection. That is probably how in-browser adblockers do it too.

I guess it would be easy to block ads via a proxy? An http proxy in Python is just a few lines of code. It could simply drop the requests to known ad servers. And in Chrome, there is a setting to use a proxy. So all one had to do is run .&#

This is what is going on in the enterprise. I wonder why I mostly see posts from people in this type of environment here on Hacker News. I would love something like Hacker News, but for indie makers, entrepreneurs and bootstrapped startups.

That is not valid PHP code. Try making a working example of it on an active codebin like this one: https://www.online-ide.com/ And link to it, then we can discuss it.

I was done with Ubuntu the day they started sending my keystrokes to their servers to show me targeted ads. It's been a while. Don't know if they reverted it. Anyhow, the trust is gone forever. Debian never disappointed me.

I wish it was possible to run a Debian VM on iOS. For laptops, there are many nice options. But for tablets, the latest iPads are currently unmatched at under 600 grams for a 13" tablet. So I would love to use one of those.
