SimpleGhar [...] created mock-up images of [...] each camera phone I wouldn't put much trust into it. If the effort to buy 20 old phones and make real photos was too high for this article, then those "mock-up images"

Sure, the words you exchange are now known to the other party. But a native app can upload anything it wants anywhere. Not just the images you processed but anything it can access on your computer.

Because of the sandboxing browsers provide. The barrier to install native software should be very, very high. It is like having unprotected sex with someone. There needs to be a high level of trust and a long term commitment. Using a websit

There is a popular misconception "If you use cookies, you have to show a cookie banner". The origin is a complete misunderstanding of privacy laws (GDPR etc) around the world. Privacy laws are not about technology. They are about

Except for speed, PHP has another awesome thing going for it: Statelessness. You throw some PHP files on a server and have a working web application. As soon as you change a PHP file, the change is in effect on next reload of the page. Yo

It seems to indicate a 30% performance boost? That would be a step into the right direction. 6 more 30% improvements and it is on par with PHP.

A 3x faster Python would make it about 2x slower than PHP. That is way easier to digest than the current ~5x performance penalty for using it. I would probably not consider PHP anymore if Python was 50% of its speed. I would never consider

Python itself has to become faster. For the love of god. Make it as fast as PHP. My biggest pain point in computer science is that for every project I have to decide to either cope with PHP's butt-ugly namespace system or with Python&#

These days, for a new Web2 type startup, I would use SQLite. Because it requires no setup and has been used to scale typcial Web2 applications to millions in revenue on a single cheap VM. Another option worth taking a look at is to use no D

12 Inch is a bit small. 13 would be great. Maybe the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet would work. Does anybody know if the keyboard works while disconnected? So one can put the tablet on a stand and still use the keyboard?

This is a misunderstaning. A Thinkpad does not let me take off the keyboard. That's why I want a tablet and a keyboard. So I can put the tablet on a stand and the keyboard in front of it.

I have not seen any arguments yet, why Satoshi is not Adam. I did say "crypto currency, that is suitable for mining in the browser" for exactly this reason: That Bitcoin is not well suited for it. One would have to look at what ty

you don't even have DKIM set up, so as of right now there's literally no way for a recipient server to tell your email apart from a spammer impersonating you. Coudln't they do that via SPF?

Aren't domains a dime a dozen? If I was afraid about my-main-domain.com (Not sure yet if I am) - I could just send from my-main-domain-mails.com, right? I get the feeling this "UUUhhh! Black magic! Don't DIY with mails!"

Why would Google need to base their spam detection on IP alone? If they see low "mark as spam" ratios for my mails, why would they care if they come through the same IP as spam from compromised wordpress instances?
