There are proposals for ircv3 that aim to add support for custom emoji, reactions, message editing etc. Soju + Gamja + Goguma is pretty usable combo even today.

Take a look at IRCv3 specs: https://ircv3.net/irc/ Unfortunately, many of them are still a work in progress. Still, a fully featured IRCv3 client connected to a modern server should be usable by normies.

This. If it's not ARM System Ready, you will be stuck with some outdated kernels provided by the vendor. Unfortunately, it seems that most SBC are no certified.

There is no 100% spec compatible org-mode application for the mobile phones (because org mode does not have formal spec AFAIK). No amount of features will compensate that single drawback. End of story.

I use Alacritty because it's easy to configure and low maintenance. It's missing two features I'd love to have: ligatures and inline images. Ligatures are not important enoguh to switch and inline images won't work in tm
