We wouldn't ban noticing the statistical connection, but we might ban using it in court cases and hiring decisions.

It's possible for a company with a superior product to be a monopoly, and it's also possible for a company with a majority share in the market to not be a monopoly.

I enjoy tons of music from the past 20 years. One of my favorites, Nikolai Kapustin, died last year. I don't know in what sense you think music has stopped happening but you're very much incorrect about that.

I'd rather have it harder to make a living in the music industry if it means the free sharing of music (and thus I have access to all music from all of history). We have more musicians in absolute terms than every before anyway.

Is this because they're a monopoly or because they're better than the competition?

New things are made with the knowledge of old things, and old things aren't. Unless more knowledge about what you're making could lead to a worse product, then newer things will on average be better than older things.

You can make calculus and Fourier transforms without infinite sets; all you need is limits.

When I was much younger this was the source of a lot of wonder for me. Both the rationals and the irrationals are dense in the reals, and yet the irrationals greatly outnumber the rationals.

Newer games are made with the knowledge of older games, so theoretically they should be better. I'd argue they are on average, but there's also the survivorship bias in play with very old games that only the good ones are still co

I don't think both of those combined would fill my time from when I'm 40 until I die. I'd have to find something that really occupies me (like maybe I start a big open source project or something) but at that point I'm j

I had a long conversation with my brother, who never wanted to retire ever, and his reason was basically "what would I even do with all the time I have". My inability to answer that haunts me every day. I still don't know.

Hallowed is a very apt translation, the hebrew word קדוש (which I think is the one that means hallowed?) can also be translated as "sperated"; "separated/holy" is pretty much the dictionary definition of hallowed

A server always runs some sort of code on a client's machine (such as sending it instructions about the game world for it to render into an image). This isn't a problem because it can only do this in an incredibly constrained way.
