I think that's a strong reaction. Corporate damage control and prevention of profit loss will look pretty much the same whether they're covering something up or just correcting the record. If there's a threat to profits, an

It's different in that the JVM is not a compiler. It's a bit like suggesting writing CPython in Python. It's possible only if the interpreter's Python source can be compiled ahead of time, like PyPy.

What's the alternative? A lottery? Sliding scale based on income? Sounds like more logistics for the purpose of intentionally losing money. Maybe people should give up on seeing extremely popular bands and check out more local music in

I came here to say this exactly. There's nothing more stressful to me than when a lot of freshly-written C++ compiles without error or warning on the first try, and then seems to run without issues. I get the distinct feeling that th

Busybox is the forefront example of this in my mind. Busybox is a single binary that provides a ton of POSIX utilities (including sh, awk, ls, cp, nc, rm, gzip, and about 300 other common ones), and these can be invoked with `busybox $comm

I'm fine with pursuing other projects, it gets weird when they end up spending huge amounts of their money by giving grants to other organizations. I'd have no problem donating knowing they use it to fund projects, but knowing tha

Flash was never a web standard, there weren't enough independent implementations, it was proprietary only, and it had mountains of security issues. I agree with trying to not break the web, but the death of Flash on the web was great,

It's hard to be sympathetic to a company that operates morally dubious amounts of data harvesting. If a program enables you to gain more privacy while using the internet, it's a moral good. I don't consider it to be stealing
