I didn't go through the entire list, but it does seem like a lot of those countries either use a standard national ID, or have a nationally issued voter ID. Unfortunately, federally assigned IDs are a weirdly hot-button issue in Americ

What keeps these hypothetical people from just fraudulently getting a second state's driving license while they're already fraudulently registering to vote?

How does an ID help with that? People can move without updating their ID right away. And, heck, I don't remember there being much, if any, that I had to do to prove my address when I got my (non-RealID) license. Really all the address

Yeah, it's not the Distro's fault that they didn't design it for how people actually use their computers. How could they have guessed that would be an issue?

The analogies in this thread are mostly only furthering confirmation bias. Because any physical analogy is such a poor representation of how a website actually works, everyone just cherry-picks the analogy that demonstrates the logic they b

I'm actually wondering what you consider not a long commute if 30 minutes hits the threshold. I've known plenty of people who have longer commutes driving directly from home to work.

The question wasn't how could the customer be impacted. None of those scenarios have to do with the customer being held legally liable for the IP violations of a vendor whose product they use.

No one was saying depression was a valid excuse for the behavior, just a reason someone might do it. Attempting to understand a motivation doesn't automatically mean excusing it.
